The lines between truth and fiction blur with hilarious and moving results in David Henry Hwang’s unreliable memoir, recently on Broadway starring Tony nominated Daniel Dae Kim. Fresh off his Tony Award win for M. Butterfly, DHH protests Jonathan Pryce’s casting in Miss Saigon, condemning it as “yellow face.” But when he mistakenly casts a white actor as Asian, he scrambles to hide his blunder, forcing him to reexamine identity, hypocrisy, and America’s obsession with “face.”
