Aanika's Elephants, a new play from award-winning Sesame Street writer Annie Evans, premieres in Honolulu as part of the Honolulu Theatre for Youth's lineup. The story follows Aanika, portrayed by Jimmica Collins, as she forms a bond with a baby elephant named Little, emphasizing the theme of family through unique connections in the animal kingdom. Directed by Pam Arciero, a veteran puppeteer from Sesame Street, the production features intricate puppetry that captures the movements and essence of elephants, bringing audiences on an emotional journey through Africa’s savanna. The play not only entertains but also educates about the current challenges facing elephants today.
