In 1921 the singer and actress Trude Hesterberg founded the Wilde Bühne (the “Wild Stage”) in the basement of the present-day Theaters des Westens, thus laying the foundation for modern literary-political cabaret in Germany. The distinguished artists of the day appeared here, including the composer of Falling in Love Again, Friedrich Hollaender, Werner Richard Heymann (A Friend, a Good Friend) and Mischa Spoliansky (Morphium).
Actress Dagmar Manzel makes full use of her outstanding voice in this musical homage, plunging us back into the enchanted atmosphere of Berlin in the wild 1920s.
