Wayne Morton Joins Cast of TheatreZone's HIGH SCOIETY - THE MUSICAL, Opening 2/6

By:
Veteran theater, television and commercial actor Wayne Morton returns to TheatreZone as the loveable and absent-minded Uncle Willie in the High Society - The Musical, the upper crust comedy featuring music by the legendary Cole Porter, opening Thursday, February 6 at the G&L Theatre in Naples.

The role marks the third collaboration between Artistic Director Mark Danni and Mr. Morton, whom Danni most recently cast as the Lizzie's empathetic father in last year's season finale 110 in the Shade, starring soap actress Kassie DePaiva.

Mr. Morton debuted at TheatreZone as Uncle Jimmy in the tap dancing comedy No, No Nanette in Season 6. "Wayne has performed a wide variety of roles in major theatre productions of My Fair Lady as Alfie Doolittle, The Wizard of Oz as The Wizard, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying as J.B. Biggley and co-starred with actress Sally Struthers in Hello Dolly in the role of Horace Vandergelder on Broadway," reports Danni. His most recognizable television roles include character Eddie Edwards - Raytown's "Mr. TV" on the TV series Mama's Family and five years as The Meineke Muffler Man commercial spokesperson in the 1980s.

But, thanks to the popularity of cable channels Nick @ Nite and TV Land, his guest starring roles on television shows like Happy Days, Mork & Mindy, M.A.S.H., WKRP-Cincinnati and Newhart, have introduced a new generation of viewers to Mr. Morton's acting prowess.

Mr. Morton began his professional career in Dallas, Texas in 1966 in the Dallas Summer Musicals' season opener "An Hour and 60 Minutes with Jack Benny and Wayne Newton," and has steadily worked in Los Angeles and New York for more than 40 years!

High Society - The Musical will be performed February 6 - 16, 2014. TheatreZone's ninth season continues in March with the powerful musical Chess starring internationally renowned tenor Michael Amante (March 6 - 16) and concludes with Forever Plaid May 1 - 11, 2014.
