Shrek the Musical, first performed in 2008, is based off the immensely popular 2001 DreamWorks film Shrek, and features music by Jeanine Tesori with book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. The story follows the misadventures of Shrek and Donkey as they travel to the Kingdom of Duloc and beyond. Shrek's peaceful life in his swamp is interrupted when a large band of fairytale creatures show up on his property after being banished from their lands by the Evil Lord Farquaad. Shrek, annoyed at the interruption and wanting the fairytale creatures to leave, sets out to speak with Lord Farquaad in hopes of regaining his swamp back. Farquaad, sensing an opportunity to use Shrek to his advantage, agrees to help Shrek only if he rescues Princess Fiona. What follows is a magnificent quest that neither Shrek nor Donkey could have imagined.

Production staff for Shrek the Musical includes Director Zach Davis, Music Director Laura Campbell, Costume Designer Tish Maynard, Choreographers Melissa Marcum and Ashleigh Bannon-Dyer, and Producers Debbie Jackson and Leslie Comer-Porter.

The mission of the First Stage Theatre Company is to provide opportunities to develop communication and social skills for children through participation in the performing arts and to promote fine arts education.
