The Reverend Thomas lived alone in his big house. He has trouble sleeping at night. He has problems with the Vicarage and the Church.
Is it really his duty to take sides? He must expose themselves to attacks and prejudices? He alone stand up against others? It is reasonable to require such a sacrifice by him?
Tomas is faced with the undesirable, their fears and their convenience. He must listen to his inner voice or read society's laws?
