BREAKDOWN

[CHARLES REVSON]
Male, 30s, Caucasian. The future cosmetics magnate who created Revlon. Has busy eyebrows and an Edward G. Robinson jaw. He’s every bit as scrappy, brash, and pugnacious as a pit bull. Should play period (1930s) and urban well. Very sharp and funny. Strong singer. ENSEMBLE

[TWO CHARACTER MEN]
Plays Male Ensemble characters, 40s – 50s, any ethnicity. Characterful, with strong acting and comedic chops. Strong high baritone. To play ensemble roles including SENATOR ROYAL COPELAND, WILLIAM S. PALEY, MR. LEVIN, MR. SIMMS, HAL MARCH, MR. BARUCH, etc. To understudy the featured role of TOMMY LEWIS (Avowedly masculine, but working in a decidedly feminine field: cosmetics. In fact, he’s Chief Marketeer for Elizabeth Arden, Inc., and he just happens to be married to the boss. On his best days, he’s a font of exciting new business ideas, with a growing vision for the company. On his worst, he feels emasculated by his world-famous wife, and seeks solace in a bottle and the company of a few junior salesgirls. He has WASPish good looks, a rakish smile, and a “to the manor born” flair) or the featured role of HARRY FLEMING (Has fought his way up in the corporate hierarchy of Helena Rubinstein, Inc., with little more than a rueful sense of humor, caustic wit, and plenty of burning ambition. He’s gay in an era that doesn’t allow it; as such, he’s at war with the world. He’s implicated himself as Madame Rubinstein’s clubby confidante and faithful ally, but, like a restless cobra, he’s always ready to strike). ENSEMBLE

[THREE CHARACTER WOMEN]
Plays Female Ensemble characters, 50s – 60s, any ethnicity. Characterful, with strong acting and comedic chops. Strong voice with the ability to effortlessly switch styles and registers, i.e. belt, mix, soprano, period swing, legit. To play ensemble roles including SOCIETY DOYENNE, MRS. TROWBRIDGE-PHELPS, COUNTESS, MAGDA, GRAND DAME, etc. To understudy the starring role of HELENA RUBINSTEIN (Born in Poland, she has reinvented herself as a grand dame of unspecific European royalty and built the cosmetics company bearing her name on little more than face cream and gall. A woman of blistering wit and ingenuity, she's a veritable freight train in a sable coat) or the starring role of ELIZABETH ARDEN (A cosmetics giant, she has porcelain skin and impeccable diction of a true American WASP; she's an upper crust Ruth Draper character sprung to life. Beneath her gracious manner and her pink brocade, she is made of steel). ENSEMBLE
