Breakdown


RED SPEEDO
by Lucas Hnath
First Rehearsal: 09/30/14. Performance Run: 10/21/14-11/23/14

Seeking 1 woman, 3 men

RAY
male, 25, any ethnicity. Fit, swimmer's body but a bit smaller than a typical Olympian. He is in training for the Olympics and believes that the only success he can have is through swimming and he may be right. Actor must be comfortable wearing only a red Speedo for the entirety of the performance.

PETER
male, 38, same ethnicity as Ray. Ray's older brother. He is a successful lawyer who is in transition to becoming Ray's manager as Ray's Olympic prospects become a reality

LYDIA
female, 30, any ethnicity. Ray's ex-girlfriend. She is hard and has lost a spark that was definitely there once. She recently lost her job and career options in sports therapy.

COACH
male, 45, any ethnicity. Ray's longtime coach. He trains hard and expects his swimmers to be moral as much as he wants them to be the best.

Studio X-hibition - New Play Development Reading Series
Dates vary. For all three readings, they will be a single Monday within our upcoming season.

Specific plays are currently TBA, however we are looking for plays that include:

One play that is ethnically centric, similar to our 2012 reading of A Thousand Kinds of Silence (now entitled The Most Spectacularly Lamentable Trial of Miz Martha Washington) by James Ijames

One play that is female centric, similar to our 2013 reading of Trish Tinkler Gets Saved by Jacqueline Goldfinger

One play that is ensemble based asking actors to read several roles, similar to our 2013 reading of Rizzo by Bruce Graham
