SEEKING:

RICHARD MANSFIELD / DR. JEKYLL / MR. HYDE: Mansfield is the celebrated Victorian actor presenting the evening's entertainment; Jekyll is brilliant, cultivated, and increasingly desperate; Hyde is dangerous, mercurial, and disturbingly alive. Requires exceptional physical and vocal transformation and a strong relationship with the audience. 30s–50s.

AGNES / ENSEMBLE: Jekyll's fiancée and Sir Danvers Carew's daughter. Intelligent, compassionate, and determined; her love for Jekyll is tested by mounting evidence connecting him to her father's murderer. 20s–40s.

UTTERSON / NEWCOME / ENSEMBLE: Utterson is Jekyll's friend and lawyer: rational, observant, persistent, and deeply loyal. Newcome is a Scotland Yard inspector: shrewd, energetic, and comic without being a fool. 30s–60s.

LANYON / ENSEMBLE: Jekyll's physician and old friend. Intelligent, skeptical, humane, and firmly conventional in his science; his certainty is shattered when he is forced to witness the impossible. 30s–60s.

CAREW / POOLE / ENSEMBLE: Carew is Agnes's father: a warm, bluff, spirited old soldier with a quick temper and great affection for his daughter. Poole is Jekyll's devoted servant: practical, watchful, loyal, and increasingly alarmed by what is happening to his master. 40s–60s.

Mrs. Jarvis is Carew's capable and knowing housekeeper; Rebecca is Hyde's hard-bitten Soho landlady, suspicious, acquisitive, and nobody's fool; Mrs. Lanyon is socially conventional, outspoken, and formidable. 30s–60s.
