Pioneer Theatre Company’s favorite way to celebrate Halloween! A groundbreaking cult musical and beloved glam rock tribute to B-horror films, The Rocky Horror Show returns with some of the most iconic characters in musical theatre history: squares Brad and Janet, mad scientist Dr. Frank N. Furter, his “monster,” and, of course, a swath of drive-in usherettes and creepy sidekicks.

October 5 – 20, 2023 (Rehearsals)

October 20 – 31, 2023 (Performances)

Rehearsals run:

  • Thursday – Tuesday (with Wednesdays off): Up to eight hours daily (with a break) between the hours of 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
  • Please note that there will be rehearsals on Sundays.
  • Additional hours will be added for technical rehearsals beginning October 13.

Performance schedule:

Local actors must audition in person. This audition is for LOCAL ACTORS ONLY. Out of town actors may submit to our casting director Bob Cline for the New York auditions.

Christmas in Connecticut

From the bucolic paradise of her Connecticut farm, famed Smart Housekeeping columnist Liz Lane dishes out advice on marriage, cooking, and homemaking to eager housewives across the country. There are just a few small details of which her readers aren’t aware: Liz actually lives in a tiny New York City apartment, she has never been married, and she can’t cook. When a beloved war hero who is a fan of the columnist is invited by Liz’s publisher to Christmas on the nonexistent farm, a musical comedy of errors ensues!

Rehearsals run:

  • Monday – Saturday: Up to eight hours daily (with a break) between the hours of 10:00AM and 8:00PM.
  • Additional hours will be added for technical rehearsals beginning November 24.
  • A rehearsal is also scheduled for Sunday, November 19 to allow for a day off on Thursday, November 23 (Thanksgiving).

  • Actors' Equity Association members must audition in-person, Friday, August 25 between 1:00 - 2:00 PM.
  • Call backs are by invitation only and will be held in-person, Saturday, August 26. Times: TBA
  • Please use the sides (provided via the link below) in order to audition for a specific role or prepare a song in the style of the show.

Our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with.

BRAD – any ethnicity – male identifying – age 25-35. A hero. All-American type with a bit of nerd to him. Vocal range C3-G4

JANET – any ethnicity- female identifying – age 25-35. Damsel in distress. Vocal range A3-E5 (G5)

RIFF RAFF –any ethnicity – male identifying or non binary – age 30-40. The shady butler who seems to be up to something. Vocal range A3-Bb4

ROCKY – any ethnicity – male identifying – age 25-35. The “perfect man” creation of Furter. More brawns than brains. Vocal range A3-A4

?EDDIE – any ethnicity- male identifying – age 25-40. Biker bad boy Vocal range F#3- F#4

In reference to the character descriptions below- most characters we encounter currently are written with man/woman, he/him, or she/her pronouns and you will see that in the following descriptions. LIZ SANDOR—Mezzo (G3-D5) – Any ethnicity-a popular columnist (as “Liz Lane”) for Smart Housekeeping magazine,30s. Fiery, confident, independent, vulnerable behind the bravado.

JEFFERSON JONES—Tenor (C3-A4)- BIPOC -a soldier, 20s. Naive, humble Texan. Charming, all-American.

ALEXANDER YARDLEY—Bass-Baritone (A2-E4) – Any ethnicity, age 55-65. The publisher of Smart Housekeeping. Gruff, imperious, powerful.

DUDLEY BEECHAM—Tenor (C3-A4)- Any ethnicity 30s, Liz’s editor, an anxiety-ridden and ambitious company man. Gay but hiding it, as the times demand.

VICTOR BEECHAM— Bari-Tenor (B2-F4) -Dudley’s older brother, Any ethnicity late 30s- early 40’s. A strapping farmer who’s an idealistic and passionate socialist. Honest, hardworking, salt of the earth.

FELIX BASSENAK—Baritone (B2-D4)- Any ethnicity- Liz and Dudley’s friend, 50 to mid 60’s. A maitre ‘d, a matchmaker, nurturer, avuncular. Eastern European emigré.

NORAH O'CONNOR— Mezzo (G3-C5) – Any ethnicity-the housekeeper at Dudley and Victor’s farm,50-‘s to mid 60s. Sweet, scatter-brained, devoted to “her boys.”

GLADYS HIGGENBOTTOM—Mezz- (G3-E5)- Any ethnicity- Yardley’s assistant/gal Friday, 20s. Sharp-witted problem-solver, lover of detective novels.

MARIO DE LUCA/ENSEMBLE— Mr. Yardley’s driver, 30s, any ethnicity. Outgoing, beefy, good-natured and helpful. Dudley’s “buddy” from the office.

ENSEMBLE—Male and Female singer dancers to play a variety of roles and understudy principals, all ages, all ethnicities.
