Please prepare a 16-bar selection in a style appropriate to the season’s shows. Bring sheet music, picture/resume and your repertoire book; an accompanist will be provided.

Actors are cast on a per show basis and not as part of a repertory company.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

Equity’s contracts prohibit discrimination. Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.

We encourage members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

THE MUNY’S COVID-19 VACCINATION POLICY: In an effort to provide the safest possible workplace, The Muny requires that all backstage employees be fully vaccinated, including the CDC recommended booster when eligible. The CDC currently defines “fully vaccinated” as those who have received two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna shots or one dose of the Johnson and Johnson shot. Fully vaccinated individuals who received the Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna shots are eligible for the booster shot five months from their last dose, and individuals who received the Johnson and Johnson shot are eligible two months from their last dose. The Muny will require the booster for eligible employees no later than 2 weeks before the start of employment or within 10 days of eligibility for those who become eligible during their employment.

As we are continually working with local and national health officials, as well all the unions and guilds, we reserve the right to update and alter the above language.

[THE DRIFTERS/ENSEMBLE] Characters are male (cis, trans or non-binary), Black, Age 20-35. FOUR extremely strong, charismatic singer/dancers to play The Drifters, a Doo-Wop/R&B/Soul Vocal Group, who are heavily featured in songs including “Up on the Roof” and “On Broadway.” Excellent with 4-part singing - high tenor, tenor, baritone, low bass/baritone.

[THE RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS & OTHERS/ENSEMBLE] Characters are male (cis, trans or non-binary), Caucasian, Age 20-35. Strong high rock tenors and strong bass/baritones to play the world-famous duo, who sing “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling.” Double as Dick Clark, Bobby Vee, Neil Sedaka (Turkish descent), Nick, and Lou Adler.

[THE SHIRELLES & OTHERS/ENSEMBLE] Characters are female (cis, trans or non-binary), Black, 20-35. FOUR extremely strong, charismatic singers/dancers to play The Shirelles, who are featured heavily in songs including “One Fine Day” and “Will You Love Me Tomorrow.” Double as Lucille, Little Eva, Uptown Singer, and Janelle Woods.

[OTHER FEMALE ENSEMBLE] Characters are female (cis, trans or non-binary), any ethnicity, 20s to mid-30s, Extremely strong singer/dancers for the ensemble, who will also portray Betty and Marilyn Wald.

[ENSEMBLE] Extremely strong singers/dancers of all genders, all ethnicities and all types, to portray various roles throughout the show, including Townspeople and Enchanted Ensemble.

They function as a “Greek Chorus” who set up for each match and serve as commentators on the action. Various roles include the Arbiter’s dancing assistants, decadent club goers in Bangkok, human chess pieces, Russian Cronies, Journalists, and embassy staff among others.

[MARY MARTIN OF TOURS/ENSEMBLE] Character is female (cis, trans, or non-binary), any ethnicity, mid 20s to mid 30s. A nun of the convent. Clearly in her own world, but she has moments of surprising clarity. A character with strong comic skills. Strong high belt/mix with legit soprano. Low F – High D. Belt to High G a plus.

[TINA & MICHELLE/ENSEMBLE] Both characters are female (cis, trans, or non-binary), Black, mid 20s to early 30s. Deloris’ back-up singers at the nightclub. Sexy with a sassy attitude whose moves are smooth. Good time girls. Strong dancers with powerhouse belts up to High G.

[FEMALE ENSEMBLE] Characters are female (cis, trans, or non-binary), all ethnicities, mid 20s to 40s. Great singers and strong movers of all types, shapes and sizes. All have comic chops and are able to play various characters—including nuns — all have very strong belt and legit voices.

[MALE ENSEMBLE] Characters are male (cis, trans, or non-binary), all ethnicities, mid 20s to 40s. Great singers (with effortless falsetto) and strong dancers of all types, shapes, and sizes. All have comic chops and are able to play various characters (altar boys, cab drivers, drag queens, etc.).
