THE DEATH OF DESERT ROSE
SYNOPSIS: In a stylized, cinematic 1890s Colorado, notorious bounty hunter “Desert Rose” Ramsey is famous for her vigilante justice and alliance with the town Sheriff. But when a mysterious new dime novel whips the town into a frenzy with a powerful prophecy, it puts Rose on a collision course with her arch nemesis – “Betty Britches” McBain – in her most personal bounty yet.
With the Sheriff by her side, Rose embarks on a pulp-filled, heart-pounding journey, racing against the clock to find Betty, unravel the threads of their shared past with the infamous Bannermen outlaw band, and discover how both women can write the end of the story together – before it’s too late. As deals turn sour, friends get hurt, and an inescapable destiny looms large, Rose and Betty learn the true cost of doing what they think is right.
The Death of Desert Rose is a new, epic Western – a tale of outlaw heists, young love, dangerous promises, and hard-won new beginnings.
DESERT ROSE: Female, early 30s, any ethnicity. Grounded, strong, thinks before she speaks. Doesn't show all her cards, but even when she has her walls up, it can't hide her beating heart. A celebrity bounty hunter and hero despite herself. Rose's idea of freedom is a quiet life, living off the land and sleeping under the stars, but will that really heal her wounds? Country belt.
BETTY BRITCHES: Female, early 30s, any ethnicity. Impulsive, passionate, brilliant. She's a natural leader, but she only knows how to lead by force. Betty believes the best way to achieve freedom is by destroying oppressive systems and people at any cost... even when it’s dangerously high. Country
SHERIFF WYATT: Male, 40s, any ethnicity. Compassionate, charismatic, religiously fair, and fixed in his ways. Has a soft spot for Rose. Strategic and ambitious, but his ambitions are all based in morality and doing what’s right. Country belt.
RED: Male, 30s, any ethnicity. The leader of the Bannermen outlaw band, and the strategy genius behind the Bannermen's infamous robberies. Quiet, sensitive, and revered. He abides by a no kill policy whenever possible. Doubles as Bandleader. Tenor.
BLUES: Male 30s, any ethnicity. Second in command of the Bannermen outlaw band. Highly emotional, proud, and quick to attack anyone who makes him feel small. Can have a temper and holds a grudge. Doubles as Bookseller. Baritone.
TUMBLEWEED: Male, 20s-30s, any ethnicity. Member of the Bannermen outlaw band. Has a talent for spinning any story and a dramatic flair but feels perpetually underestimated. Can be quick to switch loyalties if he thinks it will benefit him. Baritone.
