BREAKDOWN
TAKE THE LEAD
A NOTE ABOUT DANCE:
We are searching for talented hip hop dancers who possess a unique and captivating performance style, particularly those skilled in breaking, popping, locking, and other foundation techniques.
Additionally, we offer ensemble opportunities for individuals with specialized ballroom skills. We welcome dancers who excel in various Ballroom and American-style dances, including Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Cha-cha, Swing, Bolero, Rumba, Merengue, and Mambo. Proficiency in social nightclub dances such as West Coast Swing, Hustle, Salsa, and Argentine Tango is also highly desirable.
Ultimately, the fusion of these two dance styles will be seamless, and we invite all dancers to maintain an open-minded approach and a strong willingness to embrace diverse dance styles.
SEEKING:
ENSEMBLE DANCERS: Excellent singer/dancers with hip-hop and or partner dancing ability.
Eddie: 17, Black/Brown, Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). A wise guy and joker, prone to failing courses and being comically self-deprecating about it. Friendly and outgoing. Vocal Range: Tenor/Rapper. Hip-hop dancer.
Miguel: 17, Brown, Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). Fancies himself a skilled lover. He's not. Vocal Range: Baritone/Rapper. Hip-hop dancer.
Kurd: 16, White, Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). Gangly, energetic, but not entirely comfortable in his own skin - which leads him to try to copy the style and speech patterns of the other kids at Drake despite it not quite looking or sounding right on him. Vocal Range: Tenor/Rapper. Hip-hop dancer.
Monster: 17, Black, Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). A big ked with a big heart, but deeply shy. When paired up with Caitlin, their partnership soon becomes something more. Vocal Range: Bass/Baritone/Rapper. Hip-hop dance ability.
Lance: 17, any race, Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). Morgan's talented but slightly scattered partner. Excellent dancer with ballroom ability. Vocal Range: Any.
Caitlin: 16, White, Female (cis, trans, or non-binary). A girl from Pierre's ballroom school on the UES. She has no illusions about her skill as a ballroom dancer, but she loves ballroom anyway, and her friendly, open-hearted nature - as well as her feelings for Monster - eventually lead her down a very different parth from what her Park Avenue mother has planned for her. Vocal Range: Alto.
Lola: 17 Brown, Female (cis, trans, or non-binary). On-again, off-again with Miguel. Opinionated, perceptive, comfortable celebrating her sexuality and attractiveness without apology. Vocal Range: Soprano. Hip-hop dancer.
Egypt: 16, Brown, Female (cis, trans, or non-binary). Her status as an English Language Learner doesn't keep her from expressing herself through a dry wit, her intelligence always shining through. Vocal Range: Alto. Hip-hop dancer.
Gucci: 17, Black, Female (cis, trans, or non-binary). She knows what's up, and she's ready to tell you. A budding fashionista with unique street style a la Missy Elliot. Moster's cousin. Vocal Range: Alto/Rapper. Hip-hop dance ability.
Morgan: 17, White, Female (cis, trans, or non-binary). Arrogant, competitive, but extremely talented; the star pupil of Pierre and Alan's academy. Excellent dancer with ballroom ability. Vocal Range: Any
