Choose a brief monologue of your choice. Please slate before your audition. Please note slots do not exceed 3 minutes in length, per Equity rules. Please note there will be no singing in these auditions.

Diane - character’s pronouns: she/her/they/them, ageless, any ethnicity. The incarnation of Dionysus, a Greek god. A butch charm factory with that combination of swagger and stillness particular to masculine of center femmes. Powerful, wry, charming and very very immortal. A big lover of humans, one of the last Gods to care about us at all.
Carol Fleischer - character’s pronouns: she/her, 39, any ethnicity. A neat and tidy woman who likes things crisp, clean, organized, and exactly as they should be. Lover of shiny gardening magazines and the status quo. Stubborn and persistent. She’s the most skeptical of and resistant to Diane’s persuasions.
Pam Annunziata - character’s pronouns: she/her, 40s, white. A “full blood Italian, both sides” Protective and loyal to her family and neighbors. Blunt and forthright. She’s bold and an open book, but she has an intuitive side that makes her cautious of Diane.
Renee Shapiro-Epps - character’s pronouns: she/her, 40s, any ethnicity. Confident, self-assured, and very knowledgeable about plants and gardening. Used to live on a permaculture commune where she grew her own food, but now finds herself unfulfilled by her successful career and suburban life. Tends to casually name-drop her one and only college lesbian relationship.
Beth Wann - character’s pronouns: she/her, 30s, any ethnicity. A gentle, kind, and sincere woman who has an untapped wildness tucked deep inside her. Unfulfilled, vulnerable, and a little lost after her husband has recently left her. Beth is looking for connection with her neighbors. She gives over willingly to Diane.

THE NARRATOR- character’s pronouns: he/him. A man of any age. Our charming guide. He plays guitar and joins the band in addition to leading us through Reina’s journey, doubling as a few characters along the way.
REINA- 18, character’s pronouns: she/her. A Salvadorean girl. Determined. Full of hope and dreams. She wants a better life for herself and her son in America. Willing to risk everything to make her dreams a reality.
JULIA- 40s, character’s pronouns: she/her. Reina’s mother. Salvadorean. A hard worker who provides for her family. Disapproves of her daughter fleeing to America.
ADÁN- 20s, character’s pronouns: he/him. Reina’s brother. Salvadorean. Loyal and dependable. He supports his sister’s dreams and helps to make them come true. Also plays
CRUZ- character’s pronouns: he/him. an indigenous Guatemalan boy with dreams of obtaining an American degree.
DON NAPOLEON- 50s, character’s pronouns: he/him. A Salvadorean man who owns the restaurant that Reina works at. Also plays SILVANO- a man from Tapachula, Mexico with a dream to reunite with the rest of his family in America
ANTONIA- 30s-40s, character’s pronouns: she/her. An older woman who lives in El Salvador and has a daughter in The United States. Also plays LEONA- a meek catholic nun from Guadalajara, with rock and roll dreams.
