Seeking:

Woman / Hanna Wilson Tracey:

One actress plays both. Woman: Late 40s/early 50s. Compassionate narrator. Irish accent. Hanna: Late 40s. Plain. Kind, but with a sharp tongue and a dark humor. Somewhat shy and reserved, Hanna resigned herself long ago to a spinster life under the thumb of her recently invalided Catholic mother. Hannah’s courtship with Andy Tracey unleashes ferocious feelings and a passion thatshe didn’t know she had. Irish accent.

Mag:

Seeking actress 18+ to play 17. Mag is spirited, not conventionally pretty, capricious and loving. Devoted to Joe. Her extravagant mood-swings signal her boundless enthusiasm for life. Mag is pregnant with Joe’s baby, and struggles to make sense of her simultaneous feelings of joy and trepidation for the future. Irish accent.

Mrs. Wilson:

Late 60s. Slight, white-haired, angelic. Hanna’s invalid mother. She wears a sweet, patient smile but rules the house with her soft, commanding voice. Very religious. Irish accent.

Cissy Cassidy:

Late 60s. Tiny, frail, pretentious. Pious and nosy. A next-door neighbor and long-time friend of Mrs. Wilson, she exudes insincerity. Irish accent.

Man / Andy Tracey:

One actor plays both. Man: 50s. Compassionate narrator. Irish accent. Andy: 50s. A joiner by trade. Sweet, sturdy, reliable. Though outwardly a slightly dull and simple man, we see how unexpected romance turns Andy into a bit of a philosopher, a bit of a poet and a bit of a revolutionary. Irish accent.

Joe:

Seeking actor 18+ to play 17. Joe is bookish, totally loves Mag. Earnest, but not without a playful side. He’s an excellent mimic. Joe’s dream of going to university and becoming a teacher is in jeopardy because he got Mag pregnant, and now needs to provide for her. Irish accent.
