Premiere Stages is located in Union, NJ, 40 minutes from Manhattan. There is a train that stops at the Kean University campus (from Penn Station via NJ Transit).

BREAKDOWN

Maryanne and James are forced to confront the possibility that their child is capable of a horrible act when their son, a high school senior, is accused of a violent assault against a gay classmate. As social media explodes over the incident, the couple struggles to hold their splintering family together.

Seeking:

MARYANNE Mid-40’s, female identified. Any ethnicity. Well-respected pediatrician. Loyal and nurturing. Trying to do the right thing, altruistic. Wife of James, mother of Mike and Summer.

JAMES Mid-40’s, male identified. Any ethnicity. White-collar. Headstrong and opinionated problem-solver. Protective of his family at any cost. Husband of Maryanne, father of Mike and Summer.

MIKE 17 years old, male identified. Any ethnicity. Athletic, experimenting with guitar. Lots of friends. Accused of committing a violent assault against a classmate.

SUMMER 14 years old, female identified. Any ethnicity. Mike’s little sister, and uses it to her advantage. Social media savvy, on every platform and totally absorbed. Still lots of growing up to do.

GERALD Early-40’s, male identified. Any ethnicity. Middle class. Emotional and impulsive. Loves his son but uncomfortable with his sexuality. Father of Bobby.

BOBBY 16 years old, male identified. Any ethnicity. Gay and out to everyone. Not the most popular in school. Resilient, the victim of the assault.
