Actors for Kiss Me Kate.

Preparation
Dancers will be taught a combination; there will be cuts as we go; those who make the final cut will be asked to sing 16 bars of something appropriate. Bring picture and resume, and sheet music in the key in which you will be singing.

Breakdown

SEEKING:

Fred/Petruchio – Male, African-American, 30s- 40s. Leading man of his company. Very strong actor/singer. Comfortable with Shakespeare as well as musical theatre. Vocal range: Baritone. SEEKING NAME – will consider all.

Lilly/Kate – Female, African-American, 30 – 40. Beautiful movie star returning to the stage. Very strong actor/singer. Comfortable with Shakespeare as well as musical theatre. Vocall range: Legit Mezzo Soprano with strong low range. SEEKING NAME – will consider all.

Lois/Bianca – Female, African-American, 25 – 30. Strong singer/actress with good belt. Sassy, sexy, and fun. Vocal range: Mezzo with belt.

Bill/Lucentio – Male, African-American, 25 – 30. Handsome and charming. Bit of a bad boy quality. Strong actor/singer. Vocal range: Baritone.

Thug #1/Thug #2 – Male, Caucasian, 40 – 50. Character actor/singers. They are funny, but can also be genuinely threatening and intimidating. Think “Sopranos” types, but submit a variety of options. (Also play Doormen and Stage Hands.) Vocal range: Baritone.

Paul – Male, African-American, 35 -50. Strong singer/dancer. Flirtatious and fun. Vocal range: Baritone.

Hattie – Female, African-American, 35 – 50. Strong actor/singer. Vocal range: versatile, and comfortable with gospel riffs.

General Howell – Male, Caucasian, 40 – 45. Versatile character actor/singer. Strong, uptight military man. Very full of himself. (Also plays Doorman and Stage Hand.) Vocal range: Baritone.

Male Ensemble (Hortensio, Gremio, Baptista/Stage Manager) – Male, African-American, 20s – 40s. Strong dancer/singer/actors skilled at jazz, tap and ballet. Vocal range: from Baritone to Tenor.

Female Ensemble – Female, African-American, 20s – 40s. Strong dancer/singer/actors skilled at jazz, tap and ballet. Vocal range: from Alto to Soprano.
