A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Charles Dickens. Adaptation: Michael Wilson. Dir: Mark Adam Rampmeyer. 1st reh: 10/29/12. Rehearses in Manhattan. Runs 11/15/12 - 1/6/13.
Ebenezer Scrooge:
40s or older. Transformed from jaded, pessimistic banker to joyful and appreciative philanthropist.
Ghost of Christmas Past / Doll Vendor:
30s or older. Illuminates the joys of Christmas to Scrooge.
Ghost of Christmas Present / Fruit Vendor:
30s or older. Towering physical presence. Joyful spirit.
Ghost of Christmas Future / Clock Vendor:
20s or older. Sturdy physical frame. As ghost, communicates non-verbally.
Jacob Marley / Mrs. Dilber:
One actor plays both. Marley: 40s or older. Deceased business partner of Scrooge. Once bitter, he now cautions Scrooge against self-serving practices. Mrs. Dilber: Scrooge’s housekeeper.
Bob Cratchit:
30s. Cheerful and devoted employee of Scrooge. Optimistic and caring father.
Mrs. Cratchit:
30s. Loving wife of Bob Cratchit. Worried mother. Harbors ill will toward Scrooge.
Fred:
Late 20s. Scrooge’s young nephew. Genial and appreciative of the Christmas Spirit.
Mrs. Fred:
Late 20s. Wife of Fred. Strong-willed, but with a generous spirit.
Mrs. Fred’s Sister:
20s. Lover of Topper/Dick Wilkins. Sassy and sexy.
Solicitor #1:
30s or older. Jovial lawyer with a hearty laugh and quick smile.
Solicitor #2:
30s or older. Generous lawyer, but a bit of a hothead.
Topper / Young Jacob Marley:
20s. Bumbling with words, pleasant attitude, boyish charm.
Fezziwig:
50s. Jovial merchant. Former business affiliate of Scrooge. An energetic dancer.
Mrs. Fezziwig:
50s. Wife of Fezziwig. Spirited and joyful; a real firecracker.
Belle:
20s. Ingénue, love interest of young Scrooge. Beautiful, with a heart of gold.
WAIT UNTIL DARK by Frederick Knott. Dir: Alan Souza. 1st reh: 1/7/13. Rehearses in Manhattan. Runs 1/24-3/10.
Mike Talman:
40s. Professional con man. Has spent time in jail and has pulled many cons. Should be very likable and charismatic, but also have a dark side.
Sgt. Carlino:
40s. Professional con man. Not as likable as Mike. Perhaps a little older (or looks older) than Mike. Not quite as good at this con business as Mike, but it is the only work he knows. Nervous about the whole business. A follower, and follows Mike’s lead.
Harry Roat, Jr.:
40s. Very creepy. Dangerous, cunning and ambitious. Only interested in himself, and will do anything to further his lust for drugs and money. We know that he is capable of murder. Threatening and unpredictable.
Suzy Hendrix:
30s. Blinded in an accident as an adult, Suzy is still adjusting to her blindness. Wants to be on her own, but relies heavily on her husband, Sam. Lean in stature, therefore physically vulnerable. Very trusting of others until she realizes she’s being set up … and then becomes a formidable and crafty opponent.
Sam Hendrix:
30s. Photographer. Very likable. Almost fatherly with Suzy, with whom he has great chemistry. Reasonable and practical, but easily fooled.
Gloria:
Young girl between 9 and 12, from a broken home. Lives upstairs from Suzy and Sam; they have been paying her to assist Suzy with chores and shopping. Doesn’t like to be told what to do, and acts out when she is upset. Really wants Sam to like her. Very strong when called upon to help.
Two NYC Policemen.
BOEING BOEING by Marc Camoletti. Dir: BT McNicholl. 1st reh: 3/4/13. Rehearses in Manhattan. Runs 3/21-5/5.
Bernard:
American, 25-40. Architect and swinging bachelor. Combination of Don Draper and Jack Tripper. Ladies’ man who thinks he has the fairer sex completely figured out.
Bertha:
40s-60s. Bernard's long-suffering housekeeper, cut from the cloth of the comedy of manners.
Robert:
25-40. Bernard's old friend. Not a worldly chap. Jerry Lewis to Bernard’s Tony Curtis.
Gabriella:
25-35. The Italian fiancée, with a casual sensuality. A stewardess.
Gloria:
25-35. The American fiancée, possibly southern, with an upbeat disposition. A stewardess.
Gretchen:
25-35. The German fiancée. Blessed with an aggressive nature. A stewardess.
