Breakdown

Seeking:

DEAN:
Male, Mid 40’s – Mid 50’s. Caitlin’s father, married to Allison. A New Englander, wildly passionate, charismatic, highly intellectual, has a boyish quality and lots of obscure interests, funny and magnetic, but irresponsible and subject to intense mood swings – wild highs and crashing lows - and drawn to danger. Impractical and unable and/or unwilling to hold down a long term job.

ALLISON:
Female, Mid 40’s – Mid 50’s. Caitlin’s mother, married to Dean, a New Englander, protective of her daughter, pragmatic, intellectual, a caretaker, craves a balanced life, teaches children with learning differences, cautious.

GRAM:
Female, 70’s-80’s. Allison’s mother, a New Englander, quick-witted, outspoken, used to being the center of things, bold. She was happier in past times, but now she’s struggling with arthritis pain and the beginnings of dementia.

TOMMY:
Male, Caitlin’s composition teacher, late 20s - early 30s, a devout Catholic, passionate about music, seemingly likeable and direct and a real people-pleaser. In time we see that he’s really controlling, overbearing and capable of menace.

MIRTIS PAIMA: (MEER-tis PAY-ma)
Female, 20s. In appearance, she’s a Goth Girl,” who enjoys strangeness and darkness. But she’s a conscientious and steady person, an organizer. Practical, with a dry wit. A good friend to have.

CAITLIN:
Female, 17. Daughter to Dean and Allison, she’s a gifted musician with a quiet energy, vulnerable, introverted, in-over-her-head, scared, although we see that she can be strong when she needs to and eventually able to stand up for herself. Even though her circumstances are different from those of most high school girls, she does not stand out as an oddball and tries to blend in.
Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.
