Breakdown
DONNA ADAMS: (early-mid 30s) She is in her early to mid-thirties, but acts like a teenager. Although she is attractive and magnetic, she is unapologetically crude and unaffected by others’ reactions to her behavior. Though she does not come off as intelligent, she is shrewdly calculating, aggressively self-preserving and an alarmingly effective manipulator. She is an expert button-pusher who gets what she wants. Seeking star names and well-established stage actresses. LOTTIE ADAMS: (15 ½ - actress must READ 15 ½ - Actresses older than 15 ½ may be seen, but must believeably play 15 ½ years old). Donna’s daughter. A mature 15 ½ year old who acts like an adult. She has a great sense of humor. She is sweet, honest, intelligent and sophisticated, and hides her inner pain and vulnerability behind a nearly impenetrable wall of intelligence and biting sarcasm. She carries a lot of the weight of the play. KEVIN ADAMS-WELLER: (late 20s – early 30s) Donna’s brother. Self-doubting, but irresistibly lovable – someone you just want to take care of. Although outwardly sophisticated and undeniably intelligent, he is impressionable, and prone to rash and almost child-like decisions. He has the charm and angst of not being good enough or smart enough… He possesses so much potential that is never realized. Built up frustration and struggling to finish his novel. Seeking star names and well-established theatrical names. TED ADAMS-WELLER: CAST. Actors will be seen as possible replacements. (mid-late 30s) Kevin’s boyfriend. Bright, handsome, sophisticated, and incredibly loving, but ultimately pragmatic. A natural caregiver, as much as he fights against it.
