Female. Mid 60s-mid 70s. Mother of Rosemary. In bad health. When we meet her, she is grief-stricken because her husband has just died. A sharp, straight-shooting old bird. Doesn’t suffer fools. Weathered, opinionated, and set in her ways.
ANTHONY REILLY:
Male. mid 40s. A dreamer. Intense. Dutiful and quiet. His subdued manner masks a full, yearning heart. Resigned to a life alone because he’s afraid to reveal himself. Sensitive and guarded.
TONY REILLY:
Male. Mid 60s-mid 70s. Father of Anthony. A wily old Irish farmer. Cantankerous, set in his ways, and sly. Proud ,stubborn, and gruff. A fixture of his part of the Irish countryside.

Phil Rizzardi:
50s. Italian American. The owner of “Phil’s Eternally Fit Gym and Tanning Salon,” he’s his own best advertisement: he’s got quite a tan, and regularly whitened teeth to go with it. Trying to hold onto youth and youthful dreams of big business success. Not quite faithful to his wife. Probably in decent shape for his age, but that doesn’t mean he’s above sneaking on a pair of Spanks for men and wearing gym clothes designed for a body 20 years younger than his. Still connected to his inner Italian in certain ways: LOVES opera. He can be cranky, and there is more than a hint of the xenophobic about him, BUT when the singing starts, we see his true heart.
Howard Dunphy:
50s. Accountant at The Purina Dog Chow Processing Plant in town. Primary caregiver for his wife, Mavis, who is in failing health. Even though she ran off with an encyclopedia salesman briefly and then returned, he is committed to her. Gentle and deeply forgiving. The peacemaker in the group. Believes in taking the high road. And he’s straight guy who actually loves Bway shows and showtunes. No, really!
Wally Smith:
50s. Head Pharmacist of an Independent Drugstore in Madison County. Still living with his mom. Phil says of him, “You have no life. You haven’t had a date since junior prom, and that was your sister.” He’s maybe a bit on the heavy side. Possibly a bit OCD? Has, up to now, been afraid to take chances in life, but his good friend’s passing has shaken him and spurred his decision to finally take the plunge with women. A scary, exciting new ride! Maybe he’s got some of the naïf wonder (and nerves) of Barney Fife in him?
Baba Mati Das (“Bob”):
20s. A young Sikh man from India. Mechanic at “Gas-N-Git” Automotive in town. He is committed to his religion/family/home and at the same time he’s falling in love with everything that is good about America. Dreamed of being a member of the Rat Pack as a child in India. His enthusiasm for singing, for dancing, for life is infectious. He is patient with Phil’s misunderstanding of his culture, but he cannot be pushed too far; he has the self-respect and strength that come with his faith, too
