Preparation
Please bring picture and resume. Bring sheet music in the style of the show, and in the proper key, accompanist provided. No recorded music or a capella, please. Non-union and children please limit song to one minute.

EVITA calls for an ethnically diverse cast, and Cabrillo Music Theatre strongly encourages all ethnicities to audition. Adult roles limited to age 16 and up.

EVA PERON (to play from age 15 to 33): An actress turned wife and political partner of Argentina President, Juan Peron. Charismatic, feminine, sensual, and tough at the same time. Must be a strong, versatile actress. Must have the physical stamina, vocal endurance and “star quality” to carry the show. Must move and sing extremely well. Mezzo with a strong belt. (Low E below middle C to high G.)

CHE GUEVARA (to play 20s-30s): A hard-edged man with an extremely volatile nature who serves as narrator of the show and antagonist to Eva Peron. Must have the physical stamina and vocal endurance to withstand the rigors of a demanding roll. Must move well. Rock tenor who sings legit as well. (Low Bb to high Bb. Needs to sing F5 in falsetto.)

JUAN PERON (to play 40s-50s): A prominent army officer who becomes the President of Argentina. Stately, charismatic and charming. Legit baritone with a powerful voice. (Low A to high F#.)

MAGALDI (to play 40s-50s): A Tango singer and Eva's first love interest. Doubles as ensemble. High baritone or tenor. (Middle C to high G.)

PERON’S MISTRESS (to play 16-20): An innocent-looking young woman. Must have a sweet- sounding high mix. Doubles as ensemble. High mix/belt. (Low A to E.)

ENSEMBLE:

MALE and FEMALE singers who move, to play 18 and up, to portray various characters in the show.

MALE and FEMALE dancers who sing, to play 18 and up, to be featured in dance numbers (including male/female Tango sequence) and portray various characters in the show.

CHILDREN’S ENSEMBLE (4’10” and under, ages 7-12): Boys and girls with a clear treble voice and innocent look. To be used throughout the show. All children at audition will be taught a song from the show - no prepared song needed.
