Boris Pasternak's epic novel of love and passion, set against the turmoil of the Russian Revolution, is a celebrated modern classic, and David Lean's film transformation was one of the great Hollywood epics. Now, the sweeping story of surgeon-poet Yurii Zhivago and Lara, the love of his life will continue its journey to the stage as a musical. The lush and soaring musical score captures the essence of forbidden romance in the time of revolution.

Seeking:

LARA ANTIPOVA
Female. 20-30. Soprano to A below high C. Yurii’s true love and inspiration for poetry. Sensual, gutsy, and strikingly beautiful. Nurturing and intelligent, impetuous and passionate.

TONIA
Female. 20-30. Lyric soprano. Lovely, perky, and edgy. Yurii’s loyal wife and childhood friend.

KOMAROVSKY
Male. 40-55. Forceful, commanding. Arrogant and sleek, but possesses a genuine charm.

ALEX GROMEKO
Male. 45-60. Tonia’s father. Charming bass/baritone.

ANNA GROMEKO
Female. 45-60. Tonia’s mother. Warm soprano.

The Following roles have been CAST. Actors may be considered for possible replacements if needed:

YURII ZHIVAGO
ROLE IS CAST. Male. 25-30. Strong high baritone with full deep range. Needs a strong high Gb and floats to Ab above that. Sensitive, intense, brilliant, and handsome – a doctor with the soul of a poet. Must convey European qualities. Preferably 6’ or taller. (The Omar Shariff role). ROLE IS CAST

PASHA / STRELNIKOV
Male. 20-35. Tenor. Needs a steel-strong high G#. Innocently charming but a natural born leader. Capable of being steely and terrifying. He is the husband of Lara Antipova who loses his innocence as he enters the world of the army and politics. ROLE IS CAST
