BREAKDOWN

Seeking:

Nicola, (Arab Male, late 20s-early 30s). A recently arrived immigrant to the US. He has a certain innocence, though he is not naive. He is charming in an understated way. Not a natural loner, he is seeking family and camaraderie in a strange and dangerous world.

Ellis (Arab Male, 40s). He has been in America for close to 20 years. He is quick to learn. He knows the ropes, wants to succeed and assimilate and knows what it takes. While he is kind and generous, he is also willing to go to great lengths to be accepted as American and to avoid trouble.

Perkins (white male, mid to late 40s). He is the Sheriff of Lakewood. A man of manners, he considers himself a God fearing, law-abiding Southern gentleman whose mission it is to keep order and when necessary, make sure everyone knows his or her place.

Aldridge (white male, 50s). He is a town official, a stone mason and a Klansman. He is impatient with protocol and despite his humble origins is not particularly humble. In fact he has worked his way up and intends to protect his gains and his status from any and all, especially those he considers inferior or subservient.

The following roles have been CAST:

(CAST) Helene (Arab woman, 30s). She has been in America for 10 years but moved to Lakewood recently after marrying Ellis. A former peddler, she is strong-willed and independent. She misses her homeland.

(CAST) Weevil (African American man, 30s) An activist, community organizer, musician, and magician performing as The Smoke King. His goal is to help families in his community escape the violence of Lakewood.
