The play is set in Moscow, Russia 1938

Seeking:

Joseph Stalin
50 to 60 - a cold and calculating murderous dictator, but in this play, can also be warm and charming and very funny. Solidly built; a manipulator.

Mikhail Bulgakov
37 to 50 - A great writer; a dissident, intellectual, wary.

Yelena
30 to 37 - the quietly refined, concerned wife of Mikhail Bulgakov.

Vasilly
55 to 70 - Former aristocrat now living in an overcrowded collective apartment.

Praskovya
40 to 60 - Female teacher living in an overcrowded collective apartment.

Sergei
20 to 27 - Soviet shock worker, physically fit, somewhat naïve.

Grigory
27 to 33 – Writer; also a dissident.

Doctor
55 to 70 - Crotchety, lascivious, funny.

Stepan
NKVD secret police. Quiet, alert, ominous.

Anna
23 to 30 - An actress; pretty, in love with Grigory.

All the actors outside of Stalin and Bulgakov will play several smaller roles as well.
