BIG GAY JAMBOREE (Off Broadway)
SYNOPSIS: After blacking out from 18 Jägerbomb shots, Stacey wakes up hungover in the most terrifying place of all: a Broadway musical. With no memory of how she got there, Stacey is forced to put her BFA in theater to use and figure out how to escape this musical dystopia while a live audience watches. It’s like The Wizard of Oz, if Dorothy was a bisexual stoner.
NOTE: Actors of all genders are encouraged to audition for any role that appeals to them.
STACEY: CAST. female, 30s to 40s. Any ethnicity. A totally modern basic bitch, who wakes up hungover in a 1940’s Broadway musical, with no idea of how she got there. Sweet and snarky, with an encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture, Stacey is a 38-year-old aspiring actress whose backup plan is to marry her rich boyfriend, Keith, and become a Real Housewife. If she doesn’t escape the Broadway musical she’s trapped in, she may have to change her plan. Mezzo/Belter (E3 - G5).
BERT: CAST. male, 30s to 40s. Any ethnicity. A closeted 1940’s gay man, who pretends he is a terrifying and hyper-masculine butcher so people don’t know that he is secretly a flaming homosexual. He’s desperate to escape his small-minded homophobic town. Dancer/great mover. Baritone (Bb2 - Ab4).
KEITH: CAST. male, 30s to 40s. Any ethnicity. A tech mogul douchebro. Loves his Tesla more than he loves his girlfriend, Stacey. Think Elon Musk, minus Grimes, plus a worse personality. Has fireball shots running through his veins instead of blood. Baritone (B2 - Ab4).
CLARENCE: male, 30s to 40s. Black. A handsome leading man from the 1940’s, who leads a local gospel choir, but has bigger dreams he wishes to achieve. He finds himself unexpectedly falling for Stacey, this strange woman from the future. Great mover. Tenor (B2 - C5).
FLORA: CAST. female, 30s to 40s. Any ethnicity. A 1940’s floozy, who longs to escape her puritanical small town and live in a more sexually liberated world. Because of her oppressive surroundings, she must pretend like she is as proper as one of the Seven Brides for Seven Brothers…when secretly she’d much prefer to just take all Seven Brothers for herself. She’s sassy, she’s belty, she’s dancey. Marilyn Monroe meets Jerri Blank. Mezzo/Belter (F3 - Ab5).
