Seeking:

Charlotte Smith
20s or 30s, any ethnicity. Sweet, pure, traditional. Has wanted to be a mother all her life, and will do anything to protect that chance once she gets it. When the play starts, she has an abiding sadness about her.

Charles Smith
20s or 30s, any ethnicity. Desperately wants to live up to traditional ideals of manhood, but feels on some level like he is unable to do so. Loves his wife and worries about disappointing her.

Sally Martin
20s or 30s, any ethnicity. The Smiths’ neighbor and friend. A harried mother of a baby girl; good-hearted and essentially conventional.
