Preparation
An accompanist will be provided all three days.

If singing, please prepare two contrasting 16-bar pieces and a one-minute monologue (contemporary preferred). Bring sheet music in the correct key. No a cappella singing or singing to tracks.

If not singing, please prepare two contrasting one-minute monologues or one two-minute monologue.

All actors: Please bring one copy of your stapled headshot/resume.

Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

Always bring your Equity Membership Card to auditions.

SILDA GRAUMAN - female, 60s, sister and aunt, a rebellious spirit, recovering addict

TRIP WYETH: male, late 20s, television producer, juvenile streak, relentlessly courts the middle.

USNAVI - Late 20s-early 30s; the owner of a bodega in Washington Heights; charismatic leading man with tremendous heart. Baritone with very strong, clear rap narrative skills

NINA ROSARIO - Early 20s; daughter of Kevin and Camila; the first to go to college (Stanford University); vulnerable, charactery bookworm, intelligent; strong belt

BENNY - late 20s, African-American, works as Kevin's dispatch; the only non-Spanish-speaking member of the community, he falls in love with Nina; hardworking, good guy; can be a character actor; Bari-tenor; moves well

VANESSA – Late 20s; Usnavi's love interest; works at Daniela's salon; dreams of getting out of the barrio and getting an apartment downtown; beautiful, strong high belt; great dancer

SONNY - Early 20s; Usnavi's sassy, lazy, yet ambitious younger cousin who works in the bodega; a strong mover

ABUELA CLAUDIA – 60+; raised Usnavi and Sonny; the elder and matriarch of the barrio who knows everybody and is like a grandmother to all; Alto belt

DANIELA - the outrageous owner of the salon where the neighborhood girls gossip; tough on the surface, compassionate underneath; good belt; good dance.

CARLA - 20s; works at Daniela's salon along with Vanessa; innocent; good comedienne; strong dance

KEVIN ROSARIO- 40s; Nina's father; wants to make sure his family has everything they want; overprotective of Nina; owns Rosario's Car Service; hard exterior; baritone

CAMILA ROSARIO- 40s; Nina's mother, who wants what is best for Nina; no-nonsense; strong-willed; Mezzo range

PIRAGUA GUY - local piragua vendor

GRAFFITI PETE - Early 20s; graffiti artist and friend of Sonny; perceived by Usnavi as a trouble-making vandal, but is really a good-hearted artist; sings; very strong dancer; acrobatics a plus

ENSEMBLE – residents of Washington Heights, Men and women. Auditions and casting are open to actors from all ethnic groups. Latin performers are particularly encouraged to attend.

DICKIE – 40s; Director of Crouching Squirrel Golf & Racquet Club, one of Pamela's ex-husbands

MURIEL – 40s; Bingham's formidable spouse, owns an antiques shop
