Review: A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE & MURDER is Hysterical at the Fisher Theatre!

A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder opened the Broadway in Detroit season at the Fisher Theatre on October 4th keeping the audience laughing the whole the performance. The Tony Award winner for Best Musical did not disappoint with hilarious songs, beautiful staging, and a talented cast pulling it off with brilliant comedic timing. A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder is a must see for theatre-lovers or anyone that just wants to laugh and forget their troubles for a few hours.

A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder is the story of Monty Navarro. He discovers that he is the distant heir to the D'Ysquith family fortune and sets out to jump the line of succession by any means necessary. At the same time, Monty has to juggle his mistress and fiancée; and keep the two of them apart. Each situation, if it be love or murder, is done with absolute comedic perfection and a joy to watch on stage.

Kevin Massey plays the role of Monty Navarro. Massey is wonderful to watch on stage with a beautiful voice. John Rapson plays the role of the D'Ysquith Family. Rapson is absolutely incredible in his diverse ways of playing nine different roles. His range is phenomenal for both singing and acting and he is ridiculously funny. The chemistry that he has with Massey is perfection and the two of them work so well together that every time they meet the audiences feels it is a new interaction. It is almost constant laughs when they are together on stage and it is well deserved.

A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder is a musical worth seeing. It is one that as an audience member upon entering the theatre and seeing the stage, they are immediately transported to whimsical era of London in the 1900s. Then the music starts and that is when the comedy begins and it does not stop until the show is over, which is what A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder is full of - comedy.
