Pre-registration is available online at dmplayhouse.com and is highly encouraged although drop-ins are welcome. Spectrum Stories is sponsored by Fareway Meat & Grocery.

Spectrum Stories is an afternoon of drama experiences tailored to best support the development of pretend play, social interaction, and non-verbal communication. Each session is meticulously planned to enhance creative expression of spectrum youth. February's activities will be based on the book The Cats of Mrs. Calamari by John Stadler. In the story, Mrs. Calamari moves into a new apartment where cats are not allowed. Students will invent their own whimsical ways in which Mrs. Calamari can hide the cats from her landlord.

Developed with the guidance of Professor Gretta Berghammer of the University of Northern Iowa and the Sturgis Youth Theatre, Spectrum Stories utilizes story, music, and art to bring imagination to life. Upcoming Spectrum Stories dates are Mar. 30 and April 20, 2019.

The Playhouse, now in its 100th season is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
