GYPSY Will Be Performed by Second Street Players in July
The production at Riverfront Theater is directed by John H. Hulse, with choreography by Mark Lenard.
Second Street Players will present their 2026 summer musical, the classic Gypsy. Directed by John H. Hulse with music direction by Diane Trautman and choreography by Mark Lenard, Gypsy will be held at the Riverfront Theater, 2 South Walnut Street in Milford, DE.
Show dates are scheduled for the weekends of July 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday shows begin at 2 p.m. Seats are $30 with a $2 discount available to seniors, students and SSP theater members. Gypsy is recommended for ages 10 and up.
Arthur Laurents' landmark script explores the world of show business with brass, humor, heart, and sophistication. Gypsy is the ultimate tale of an ambitious stage mother fighting for her daughters' success, while secretly yearning for her own.
Set all across America in the 1920s and 30s, when vaudeville was dying and burlesque was born, the score by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim boasts one hit after another, including "Everything's Coming Up Roses", "Rose's Turn", "Small World", "Together Wherever We Go", "You Gotta Get a Gimmick", and "Let Me Entertain You."
