Acton School of Ballet, at 3 Spruce Street in West Acton, Massachusetts, is directed by artistic director Lindsay Moncrieff and aims to provide classical ballet training in a supportive, educational and collaborative setting, fostering creativity, confidence and persistence in its students. The Lower School takes students from 18 months through third grade with little or no experience, progressing through yearly syllabus programs that teach classical technique in a creative, imaginative way; the Upper School serves fourth grade and up by placement; and a Pre-Professional Program, entered by audition, adds master classes, pilates workshops and outings such as an annual visit to Boston Ballet. Supplementary classes, private lessons and open adult and beginning ballet classes round out the school year. Summer offerings include Classic Ballet Stories for ages 3.5 to 6, a Young Dancers' Workshop for ages 7 to 8, a July intensive for ages 9 to 18, intro to pointe and a master class week. The school stages full productions such as Cinderella and holds an annual open house with free classes.
