The Center is a dance studio at 321 Main Street in Amherst, Massachusetts run by sister duo Ashley and Caddy Carlisle, who draw on their dance training in the Pioneer Valley, New York City and Montreal. Its premise is that children spin stories from movement using classical and modern dance techniques, and its teaching deliberately links dance with reading, writing, collaboration and creative making rather than treating technique in isolation. Classes are grouped into a toddler and preschool program, a K-12 program and adult classes, with a monthly class pass available for adults.
