Nupur Academy La Inc.

Nupur Academy LA, Inc. is an institute for Indian classical performing arts serving the Torrance area of Los Angeles County, dedicated to passing on the culture of India through music and dance. Its main discipline is Kathak, taught in beginner, intermediate and advanced streams: beginner classes run on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday and are split between young children and adults, intermediate classes are for students with three or more years of training, and advanced placement is assessed by director Prachi Dixit. Alongside dance the academy teaches Hindustani classical vocal music and basic to intermediate tabla in a group class open to all ages, with private tabla lessons available, and runs an Inward Bound guided meditation class for ages 12 and up on weekday evenings. The academy is affiliated with two institutions in India, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University in Pune and Pracheen Kala Kendra in Chandigarh, through which students can earn certificates and diplomas.
