About this studio
Noorani Dance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit cultural arts organization based in Menlo Park, California, founded in 2016 by dancer and choreographer Farah Yasmeen Shaikh. Its name means bright or luminous, with a secondary sense of enlightenment. The organization teaches Kathak, the classical dance of North India and Pakistan, through Noorani Dance School and presents professional work through Noorani Dance Company. Shaikh trained under and assisted her guru Pandit Chitresh Das, taught accredited courses at San Francisco State and Stanford, and was a senior instructor at the Chhandam School of Kathak.
