Newport Academy of Ballet

Newport Contemporary Ballet is a professional dance company and school based at 3 Charles St in Newport, Rhode Island. The company commissions and sets original works, engaging guest choreographers and diverse artistic voices, and presents a season that has included Creatures of Habit, Polygon, The Tempest, Are the Crayons Quitting? and the long-running Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff, along with the annual Newport Dance Festival that hosts visiting companies. The ACADEMY at Newport Contemporary Ballet is the teaching arm and offers dance education for all ages and abilities, from creative movement through rigorous pre-professional training to adult classes, with ballet, pointe, contemporary, hip hop and jazz on the schedule plus summer camps and classes. Community and education work includes in-school curricula, student matinees, after-school programs, a New Dancer Program, community classes, workshops, masterclasses and open rehearsals. The organization is raising funds for a permanent Center for Arts and Education.
