Newport Contemporary Ballet, formerly Island Moving Company, is a professional contemporary ballet company and school based at 3 Charles Street in Newport, Rhode Island. The company commissions and sets original works, tours, and presents a season that includes the Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff, The Tempest, Polygon and the annual Newport Dance Festival, alongside a Junior Company for younger dancers. The ACADEMY at Newport Contemporary Ballet is its school, offering classes for all ages and abilities from creative movement through pre-professional training and a range of adult classes, with ballet, pointe, contemporary, hip hop and jazz on the summer and school-year timetables, plus summer camps. Its Dancing Through Boundaries education program runs in-school curricula, student matinees, after-school programs and a New Dancer Program, and the organization also hosts community classes, workshops, masterclasses and open rehearsals.
