Lineage Dance Company

Lineage Performing Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts center at 920 E Mountain Street in Pasadena, California, founded and led by artistic director Hilary Thomas and active for more than 25 years. It works across three pillars. It produces seven or eight original multidisciplinary productions each year combining dance, music and storytelling for audiences of more than 2,000, including an annual book musical reimagined largely through movement and dance. Its Dance for Joy program offers 6.5 hours of free dance, music and acting classes each week to people with Parkinson's, MS, traumatic brain injury and stroke, whose participants also appear in Lineage productions. Its education work places teaching artists in dance in Title 1 schools across the Pasadena Unified School District, serving over 350 students a year, and sponsors the John Muir Mystics dance team with free space, a summer intensive and an annual concert. At its own facility, which includes a black box theatre and dance studio, Lineage teaches musical theatre, modern dance and acting to all ages, serving over 100 students a year, and hosts community arts workshops and visiting artists.
