About this studio
Kelli's Dance Explosion, known as KDX, was established in 1999 by Kelli Hawkins Derrick and now operates at 3325 Taylor Rd Suite 109 in the Western Branch area of Chesapeake, Virginia. Its first spring performance featured eight dancers; by 2010 the school had opened one of the largest studios in Hampton Roads with over 450 students, and it relocated to Western Branch in 2015. The studio teaches ages 3 through adult from beginner to advanced, with classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, musical theatre and acro. Its stated philosophy is quality over quantity, preparing dancers while building grace, poise, discipline and respect.
