Katie's Dance Studio, at 10311 San Pablo Avenue in El Cerrito, California, has been teaching since 1966. It offers jazz, tap, hip-hop, acrobatics and ballet to children, teens and adults, with class levels running from beginning through to professional. Children are accepted from about three and a half years old. Placement is handled personally by owner Katie, who asks prospective students to take a placement class before enrolling, except for the 4 to 7 year old classes and beginner classes. Performance opportunities are available to dancers at all levels, and advanced students may be eligible for specialized workshops and competitions or to perform in professional shows; the studio has travelled to Hawaii and China for performance trips. A summer dance camp is offered for ages 7 to 13.
