Kalapriya Foundation, Center For Indian Performing Arts Inc.

Kalapriya is a South Asian performing arts center at 2101 S. Wabash Avenue, Suite 1, in Chicago, with a stated mission of enriching the city's cultural fabric by celebrating South Asian traditions and promoting social justice through artistic expression. It runs separate adult and children's dance classes, visual arts classes, workshops and intensives, a youth summer camp with scholarships available, senior programs, school assemblies and community outreach. Recent dance offerings include Odissi classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings covering arasas, charis, brahmaris and combinations, plus Bollywood choreography sessions. The center also fields the Kalapriya Dance Company for bookings, stages an annual Student Showcase (the fourth, Advaitha, in June 2026) and hosts the yearly Mela Festival and Carnatic music concerts. A free trial class is offered, and the studio can be rented or booked for birthday parties and group events.
