About this studio
Fresh Pond Ballet was founded in 1987 by Nina Rubinstein Alonso to teach classical ballet, with the stated aim of bringing grace, joy, strength and confidence to each child in a non-competitive environment. The school began in West Cambridge, Massachusetts, then moved in 1994 to Mass Ave in Porter Square, where it taught for 26 years in a studio fitted with a purpose-built sprung floor. In spring 2020, amid the uncertainty of COVID-19, the school left the Porter Square space and returned to West Cambridge, where it now teaches hybrid, in-person, private and semi-private lessons. Current offerings advertised on the site include teen and adult group lessons and private and semi-private classes at the Cambridge location for students aged 12 and over.
