Forward Momentum Chicago Nfp

Forward Momentum Chicago is a non-profit dance education organization based at 1530 S State Street in Chicago, led by founder Pierre Lockett. It works with young people in Chicagoland schools and communities that have limited access to the arts, using dance to build character, confidence and leadership. Programming ranges from in-school classroom residencies and partnerships with After School Matters to formal studio training and an annual FMC Summer Dance Camp. Its Power UP! Saturday classes, sponsored by the Epstein Family Foundation, run from September to December for students aged 5 to 14 at Linne Elementary School in Avondale and Hamilton Park in Englewood; classes are free apart from a $25 registration fee and cover ballet, modern, African, Latin and hip hop technique in a conservatory-style format. More advanced students aged 5 to 17 can join Thursday intermediate classes, and the FMC Dance Ensemble trains dancers to perform at major Chicago venues. Recitals, field trips and recital attire are included.
