Dancenter

Dancenter is a Santa Cruz County studio based at 810 A Bay Avenue in Capitola, California, and says it has taught dance in the county for over 30 years, serving all ages and levels. The youngest students take Pre Dance and Pre Ballet/Tap at ages 3-4 (children must be potty-trained and able to separate from a parent), followed by Creative Ballet and Mini Hip Hop at ages 5-6. Older students progress through Ballet 1-6 with Pre Pointe, Pointe 1 and Pointe 2, plus graded Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Latin, Modern (Limon, Graham and Garth Fagan technique), Contemporary, Acro Dance using the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, and Belly Dance for teens and adults. Teen and adult sections run in ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop, and conditioning options include Flexibility and Progressive Ballet Technique classes. Dancenter also offers Special Dance and Special Ballet/Creative classes for students with physical limitations or developmental disabilities. Eight performing companies, grouped by age and experience, perform at community events around the Bay Area, and a six-week summer session and summer dance camps also run.
