About this studio
dancEnlight is a professional modern dance company founded in 2008 by twin sisters Lorelei Chang, based in Connecticut, and Mai Nakanishi, based in Tokyo. Its mission is to foster the arts through dance, education and the ancient Chinese arts of Qigong, calligraphy and Taijiquan, creating cross-cultural work that blends Eastern and Western ideas; combining dance with Chinese calligraphy and Qigong is its signature approach. The company has performed at venues including Trinity College, the Wadsworth Atheneum and the Yokohama Museum of Art, and has run school residencies and summer intensives. Since 2018 it has operated as a solo company, with Lorelei Chang offering solo performance, online Qigong and movement classes and in-person workshops.
