About this studio
Carolyn Dorfman Dance is a contemporary modern dance company based in Union, New Jersey, celebrating its 40th anniversary. Under founding artistic director Carolyn Dorfman, the company creates powerfully expressive contemporary work about the trials and triumphs of the human story, including The Legacy Project, which draws on Dorfman's Jewish heritage; selected performances are endorsed by the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education. Beyond performing, the company runs an extensive education program. K-12 residencies in public, private and charter schools support the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in the visual and performing arts, and often culminate in a joint student and company performance.
