Andalusia Ballet, in Andalusia, Alabama, is entering its 44th season under the banner 'SOAR'. Training begins with Creative Movement, one 45-minute class a week for pre-schoolers aged 3 to 5 focused on creativity, coordination, rhythm and enjoyment of movement. Students then progress through a color-coded ballet syllabus - Pink, Blue, Yellow, Lavender, Green, Teal, Purple and Silver - advancing from elementary positions and class decorum through barre and center work, work en diagonale and reverence to croise, efface and ecarte, epaulement, allegro, pirouettes and pointe preparation, with upper levels taking three or more technique classes a week. The school also teaches contemporary and jazz, and holds fundraising events such as an annual dinner and auction.
