West Side Story features Leonard Bernstein's score with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, transporting Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to 1950s New York City where two young lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. The production is led by Nick Lama-Riva as Tony, Elisa Mato as Maria, Krystal Rodriguez as Anita, Manny Gallegos as Bernardo, and Nathan Middleton as Riff, among other stage veterans. The show is directed by NTPA Repertory Creative Director Nick Mann, with choreography by Paola Rodriguez Torregrosa, music direction by Ben Barker, and features a live orchestra led by Artistic Director Preston Page. The NTPA Musical Theatre Orchestra, which recently won the Schmidt and Jones Award for Best Orchestra, accompanies the production.
