Dallas Children's Theater presents a staged reading of The Penumbra, a new musical with music by Ian Ferguson and book by Lauren LeBlanc, on April 18, 2026. Directed by Emily Ernst and conducted by Scott Eckert, the production features cast members Caitlin Chapa, Natassia Diggs, Aubrey Ferguson, Kris Black Jasper, Sydnie Roy, Emma Sanchez, and Libby Serber, with Ferguson and LeBlanc also performing. Live accompaniment will be provided by the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra. Based on LeBlanc's unpublished young adult novel, The Penumbra is a supernatural thriller woven from three narratives: a teenage girl in a struggling family, a town facing a pattern of missing children, and an ancient folktale of love and destruction.
