It has been an alarming, and dangerous year in our Nation as Ochre House Theater brings their 2024-25 Season to a close with OPERA BOX, written and directed by Artistic Director Matthew Posey. As people have been disappeared from their homes, off the streets, and at their places of work, as our voting rights are taken away, and as our HealthCare System is being dismantled, we find ourselves in an increasingly Authoritarian Dystopia. Ochre House Theater is reaching out to our hurting community and addressing these troubling times with a poignant dark comedy about a poor Southern family, caught up in addiction due to the Opioid Crisis, who end up journeying through the Bardo in order to understand their lives as their American Dream unravels. Matthew is very excited about this important piece, written in verse, that will be employing Live Music, Shadow Play Techniques, Projections, Puppetry, and a wickedly hilarious cast of talented unflinching artists to round out a provocative evening of risk-taking theater that is unique to the Ochre House Theater Experience.
